Pollennieuws is an application that keeps you informed on a daily basis with current information about pollen and hay fever.
Pollennieuws wants to enable people to learn to recognize and avoid pollen plants that cause hay fever complaints when they flower. Ideal for a quick look before sports, recreation or walking in the open air. It also offers you the opportunity to tailor your hay fever medication to the current situation. The application consists of a number of elements:
• Pollen map. Independent biologists provide a daily pollen map of the Netherlands with the expectation of the pollen in the air in dry weather. The pollen information on the pollen map is updated daily by Pollennieuws around 07:00 and more often if necessary.
• Complaint module. Via a slider you can indicate on a scale from 1 to 10 how much you currently suffer from hay fever complaints and which symptoms are involved. You will immediately receive feedback on the current national picture by means of a bar graph. These reports are used by Pollennieuws to improve the forecasts and forecasting models.
• Pollen journal. Biologist Maurice Martens of Flora van Nederland regularly writes a short text message with a summary of the most recent developments.
• Bloom trends. The flowering trend is indicated for the groups of trees, grasses and herbs.
• 5-day hay fever load forecast.
• Flower calendar. This calendar shows the flowering period of the most important trees, shrubs, grasses and herbs at species level. On the website www.pollennieuws.nl more detailed information about the different species can be found in the form of video clips.
• Pollen counts. A graph displays the most recent pollen counts. These counts come from the pollen counting station of the Elkerliekziekenhuis in Helmond.
• Twitter feed. Overview of the most recent Pollen News Tweets on Twitter.
This app requires a good working internet connection. If this is not the case, the app will not come into its own optimally.
The log function of the previous Pollennieuws app has been discontinued in this version. We work together with the specialized, free, MedApp to register complaints.
Privacy policy
You do not have to log in with a name or e-mail to use the app, the registrations that you can do via the app are therefore anonymous. Pollennieuws does not collect names or other data that say something about the identity of the user of the app. Pollennieuws respects the privacy of all users of its websites and apps.
